Absolute beginner wanting to know what is acceptable and how tf to do this

Ok so I've been messing with mixx/audacity/my friends numark 4trak and I have been able to do some good transitions using the numark as it's a lot easier to manipulate with two hands vs 1 mouse.

However I have had some real success using audacity to create 4 song 4 ish minute mashups.

I feel like this might be looked down on though as it isn't actually djing and mixing the songs live but my mixes sound so much better simply mixing little end/start pieces of these mashups.. but I feel like I'm cheating

My question is am I doing it wrong? Like I'm sure this isn't the right way I should DJ or is it and I'm just being paranoid?
