I read Great Gatsby in its entirety for the first time today, and listened to an album while doing so, I didn't intend for this but the album fits so well with the book, I wanted to share

The album is called Under the Western Freeway by Grandaddy. It's space rick, which here is essentially experimental alt rock with elements of techno and nature sounds. Here's some fitting lyrics:

"Now surely you'll understand that only gifted hands will receive the chance to touch down on fortune" (the whole emphasis on good breeding most of the upper class perpetuate)

"If you come down, we'll go o town, I haven't been their in years- but I'd be fine, wasting our time, not doing anything here" (Gatsby just wanting to do anything with Daisy, they end up going to town)

"He put out his smoke and proceeded towards the lake, repeating to himself: Everything beautiful is far away" (Gatsby looking across the lake to see where Daisy lives)

"Go progress chrome, they paint the moon today some brand new future color" (the theme of progress in the Gilded Age)
