This things was hanging on the under carriage of my car

I picked up a new car last week and this thing was hooked onto a hole on the undercarriage near the front right wheel. It says "CPS" on both sides and it doesn't seem to have a function whatsoever. The 'thing' is made of pretty solid, white, slightly transparent plastic. I was able to simply take it out without any force or tools, it was just dangling there on the hook, with the part with the slot in it facing down. Maybe it is some mount or retainer left from the production?

The car is a VW Polo if that matters in any way.

Edit: I forgot to say anything about dimensions. The piece is about 5 cm (roughly 2 inches) long.
