[Review] My Green Teapot: Ahlee Peak Premium and Drunken Princess
Part I: Ah lee peak premium green oolong
Notes of: pear, dark chocolate
Smelling the dry leaves doesn't provide much of an idea of the taste. Could be due to packaging.
This tea tastes pretty good, with the grassy taste mentioned in the description. Following the grassy taste is a pear-like sweetness, followed by a dark chocolate finish.
The finish is a little too powerful compared to the rest of the flavor. I know people who enjoy that powerful finish, but to me it belongs more with darker oolongs.
For a decent clarity and enjoyable initial taste, 80 points out of 100
Part II: Drunken Princess
Notes: honey, white grape
I bought a sample of this with 50g of the Ah Lee oolong.
It's more fragrant than the Ah lee oolong but still a little difficult to smell. Again, perhaps It's the packaging.
This is a slightly higher oxidation oolong, and the decision to do so for this variety was, in my opinion, a great one. The honeyed flavor is followed by a delicious and distinct white grape taste.
For great clarity and more balance, 90/100.
