Beginner hiker looking for nice places to hike in the North West US

Road Tripping across country from Maryland to Oregon and Washington. I have been having a lot of fun with local areas but lately I have wanted to expand my horizons. I am not a seasoned hiker so preferably nothing too death defying of a place would be nice. Any suggestions are helpful. If it is on the way those suggestions work too.
