Hammock me, baby!

Yes, you heard me.

I'm going on a cycling holiday and I'm toying with the idea of rough camping on the way with a hammock and fly arrangement. Seems fairly discrete and lightweight which is obviously a bonus on a road bike.

I was looking at hammock/fly combinations specially designed for touring - like this although I wasn't really looking to part with £200 for something that I'm highly likely to be crap at.

-Is there a cheaper option that'll do the same job and can be set up by a newb?

-Is it a good idea to try and rough camp in this style, or will I just be found wanting for decent places to pitch?
