Macbook Pro 15 worth the extra ££ ?

Buying help

Hello,

I am interested the new Macbook Pro 15" w/ Touchbar. As a former owner of two XPS 15 that came with a myriad problems, I don't want to do anything with Dell anymore and am considering the Apple route.

I can get the MBP with a substantial discount (£500 off the Apple price) and 4 years of warranty through an institutional purchase. Do you think it's worth buying at that price, considering that a "similarly" specced high-end windows laptop costs is at least £400 cheaper ?

I want to use it mainly for data science projects (I have workstations at school for more serious stuff), watching series and some light gaming from time to time. I value excellent build quality, long battery life and good customer service above all and that is why I am considering the MBP.

Could you recommend me any Windows alternatives to this laptop (but no Dell) ? Should I buy it or wait for the Zenbook Pro UX550 which will probably be cheaper ?

Many thanks for your help
