I need your input on some r/vfx rule changes...
Hey all, I hope you are all good!
I've been a little absent lately with deadlines and crunch time... but I'm out the other side now and hoping to work on the subreddit a little this weekend. And here is where I'd like some input, suggestions, feedback from anyone willing to give it...
I think we need to tighten our subs rules a little. If there are no subreddit rules telling users that certain content isn't welcome, then as a moderator I can't reasonably remove it. I want this to be an open and welcoming place where anybody can share whatever they like (vfx related!), but at the same time I don't want the sub clogged up with spam that drives users away.
There have been a few posts in the last week that have generated a lot of spam reports, but for one reason or another are difficult for me to remove because they have technically been vfx related.
For example... (sorry to point fingers at certain posts)

This user has ripped content from a studio and has re-uploaded it in a lower quality on his own channel to gain views and subs. I find this disrespectful to the original content creator and just generally a bit of a dick move! Thoughts?
Proposed rule: Link to the original content creator whenever possible. Re-ups will be removed.

This post is self promo for a vfx school.
Proposed rule: ???
We can't ban all self promo posts because where would we draw the line? a showreel is self promo. But if these aren't the kind of posts that users want to see, we need to define a rule to warrant it's removal.
Any other rules or suggestions to keep spammy posts at bay?
Open to any and all feedback, comments or suggestions.
