Whenever I reopen my Laptop, to hear sounds in Ableton i need to restart the program?

To put it simply, when I leave my laptop closed for a night or however long, if Ableton is on none of the play buttons work and I need to restart the program for it to start making sounds again.

Is this normal?

I'm also using it with the recently installed ASIO which I heard was essential but seems to make thinks a little more complicated.
