[Build Help] Building a rig primarily for music production; secondarily for digital art and casual gaming

Build Help

I've been planning on building a rig for a few months now and slowly pulling triggers as various components go on sale. This build will primarily be used for music production with DAWs such as Ableton and Reason. I also create digital art, watch movies, and do some casual gaming from time to time. The gaming is pretty minor, and I don't think I'm too concerned with framerate or other game settings, but I am waiting for a good 4k monitor that's at least 30".

My budget is around $2,000, not super strict, but I've been waiting for sales because frugality still matters.

I'm in the US

I have not committed to a specific GPU, RAM, mobo, or monitor yet (the monitor listed is not intended to be used for the final build), and I was looking specific advice for

  • GPU (what's a safe bet for someone who may be doing some casual gaming?)

  • RAM (what will cover the DAW's demands, what's most compatible with the CPU/mobo I end up with)

  • Motherboard (mainly looking for compatibility, but if there are other aspects I should be aware of then I welcome that advice as well.)

  • Monitor (I know I want a 4k monitor [UHD is fine] with at least 30". Color accuracy is important well.)

Thanks for your time! Any advice is welcome.
