Help with upgrades please (:

I have sold an older gaming rig for $1,080 dollars and I want to purchase a 144hz and preferably 1440 monitor. I am looking at the Asus predator TN and am pretty convinced on the purchase but am wondering what you guys have to suggest. I am looking at the FTW2 EVGA 1080 for $540. I do animation and video editing as well as gaming. I sold my GTX 1070 for $400 and was pretty happy given I spent $375 new haha.
