Pre-emptive Maxwell Trial Unit Suggestions
This is assuming that:
-
You are a free player who has not participated in any event so far, nor pulled any 5-star units, and has no TMs.
-
You have completed the story, or at least have Sakura.
-
You only care about getting Maxwell, the unit.
I have no idea how difficult the ELT version may be. These suggestions are not for the ELT version.
| Unit | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Snow | Gauge Filler + Provoke Tank | Maxwell deals 4800 FIXED damage with Meteor, and 160% of a unit's HP as damage. You'll want to keep that damage away from your healers. He counters a lot, so evoking Diabolos should be quick. |
| Warrior of Light | Diabolos + Provoke Tank | 50% innate Light resist allows him to mitigate Diabolos' downside. He has Full Break as well. |
| Cecil | Diabolos + Cover + Curaja | 100% Light resist vastly helps when trying to evoke Diabolos. Not reliable for protecting from Meteor or Destiny, however. |
| Sakura | Light Resist + Damage Resist | Light + Damage Resist could be able to reduce Meteor and Destiny's damage enough that they can be survived, unless debuffed by Sacred Song. |
| Refia | Full Raise + Curaja | Fully reviving your Diabolos evoker, or your tank, could prove invaluable. |
| Shine | Dark Damage Dealer | Deals damage that Maxwell is weak too. But isn't really needed. |
| Cloud of Darkness | Maneater + Light Resist | Bulky damage dealer that isn't likely to fall under Maxwell's attacks. Also brings Omniveil if you do not want to use Sakura. |
Edit: You do not need/want to bring Snow, Cecil, and Warrior of Light, but you could opt to bring Snow to absorb damage, and have Cecil/Warrior of Light be the Diabolos evoker.
The fight ought to go something like this:
Sakura buffs with Thunder's Protection, then Defensive Barrier. If equipped with a Healing Staff, or Cura, she can heal when she doesn't need to buff.
Snow, Cecil, or Warrior of Light Provoke/Buff on the first turn, then Guard until Provoke/Buffs need refreshing.
Everyone else wails on Maxwell with normal attacks in an attempt to generate Summon orbs.
Summon Diabolos.
Drop Maxwell to 30% HP while your team is full health, and possibly guarding.
Defeat Maxwell.
It sounds much easier on paper the internet, doesn't it?
