Question on coming from out of State to sell a rifle to a Texas resident

Sorry if this has been asked but I was hoping to get some answers on this. In a couple of weeks I am flying to Texas on business and a buddy of mine who lives in Texas wants to buy one of my rifles.

I am from California so know what I need to do on my end to show I am no longer own the rifle but my question is do I have to take it to an FFL in Texas or can I just give it directly to my friend and get a bill of sale?
