New player XB1

I know this post has probably become a nuisance but I am seeking help on how to be better at HUT.

I am just starting out and am doing decently in D8. I'm 3-2 so far. I was wondering which players play higher than their rating and how do get better players fast? Which synergies work the best? My best player right now is expansion Gaborik (expendable)... he's fast and can score, but I feel like I wont be able to go high in divisions with him as my star. Any help is wanted.... thanks so much!

EDIT: Also what do I do with coaches, jerseys, and logos? I have some extra of each...
