I need to tow a 1999 Nissan Altima roughly 50 miles. I cannot get a dolly. If I put it in neutral and leave the engine running, would it be okay?

Nissan manual says no flat towing with the engine off. If I leave the engine on it should still lube the transmission, right? Reason is because the engine is not in good shape, and probably wouldn't handle the drive under it's own power. It will at least make it with no load.
