Critique my bucket aeroponics with Kratky method failsafe system?

Hey, just wanted to run this by you guys. I want to grow some tomatoes which won't really work too well with my DIY vertical zipgrow system, plus they need a different set of nutrients compared to the Chinese greens I'll be growing in the vertical setup.

Having a pump fail freaks me out, especially it a huge tomato plant depends on it, so I wanted a system that has the benefits of an aeroponics system but with the failsafe of a Kratky system in case the pump fails.

Would something like this work?

Due to fluid equilibrium, the water level in the reservoir will always be the same as the water level in the buckets. If the pump were to die, the plants would act essentially as a reverse pump - they'd pump water out of their buckets until they use up all the water in their buckets + reservoir.

Do I have this thought out correctly? Or am I overlooking something?
