Is my AC working ?

Hey guys well at last summer is here and it was geting pretty hot so i try'ed out my ac for the first time. So does it have to work so noticeably? I mean my revs drop down and and i can fell and hear the power drop when the compressor turns on. So IS IT NORMAL ? :D for a delsol 97' esi thanks
