[R&D] Service Update to the EF88 Austeyr

R&D

The Enhanced F88 Austeyr rifle entered service with the Australian Army in 2019, replacing its namesake with a modern upgrade based on our years of experience. Despite the praise it received and its success in the field, a number of issues were brought up by service members about defects that endured from the original F88 to the new version. After years of production and design, Lithgow Arms has released a new version that addresses these issues. The updated weapon is a mature system, which will serve the ADF well into the future.

#Changes

Ejection mechanism: The modified ejection mechanism makes spent casings fly much less laterally, instead ejecting towards the front and out to the side. In addition, the guard cradles casings to reduce their kinetic energy on ejection and minimise the hazard to operators.

Stock: The EF88's stock is now adjustable, with six possible positions out to 90mm extension. The adjustment moves only the rearmost part of the stock to maintain bullpup operation, but can nevertheless be adjusted enough to cover a wide variety of operator heights. It returns to the default position when disassembling the rifle.
