Alternative to makefile for Let's Split QMK
Hello, As you may know the parts of my Let's Split build are en-route and I've started reading up on the QMK firmware.
Everything went according to guides until the " run 2-setup-environment-win as administrator" step. Dfu-programmer and libusb caused errors even though I've installed both. I have explained the issue further here.
Because the environment is not complete I cannot run makefile in the command prompt.
So. Can I copy and paste a keymap from github's qmk folders to Notepad++ and save it as .hex and use that in AVRDUDESS? Or will I lose important code strings with this process?
Note: I'm running Windows 7, not 10.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

UPDATE1: Many thanks to u/insertsnideremarks for his suggestion on using VirtualBox's Linux and bypass Windows 7 completely. I set up everything easily and painlessly, although I can't seem to make my host and guest OS share the .hex files for some reason.
I'm looking into this as u/rekcomeht said that flashing inside the VM can cause issues. For this reason I'm keeping thread "unresolved" since I want everything compiled correctly in my original OS since it's where I'll use my keyboard. .
.
UPDATE2: u/GlenPickle has rightly reminded me that if I flash my Let's Split in VM Linux it ought to run smoothly in my original OS too since the Pro Micros are independent code-written devices.
According to this guide ,flashing in Linux can be done in cmd and for both halves simultaneously so I must complete my build to check if I can flash it without errors with VM Linux. As my issue regarded making the .hex files and I now have a complete setup to flash my future Let's Split ready (even if it's in a virtual machine), I'm flairing this thread Solved.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and knowledge. o7
