What a Melee and Unarmed Legion run has taught me.

Melee perks and weapons are so overpowered they make up for the distance you have to close with them. Talk about, taking on 3 deathclaws at the Thorn with Chance's Knife, and a shot of med-x and psycho. You can squeeze in enough hits to knock them over and go to town on the limbs.
