What should I [18M] do in a situation where another guy asks me if I'm interested/attracted to some coworker that I've never even talked to before?

I'm kind of a fat dumpy retard that never caught on with how to deal with situations like this, and frankly I want to know how to deal with them. Due to severe insecurities in myself I've never even attempted to jump into the relationship game, and don't think I ever will, but that's besides the point.

The situation is, at my last job when I was 16-17 there was this older male coworker (25ish) who came over to me one day and repeatedly asked, in a very "high school bruh" voice (because immature isn't exactly a good descriptor) if I was interested in a female coworker in our line of sight in another section. He told me to "get her number man gotta get it yo" and I just kind of placated him with a non-answer so he'd walk off, and he did.

The insecure paranoid conspiracy theorist in me says he was preying on my inexperience with relationships and single status, and wanted to use it to either 'prank' me in a weird way OR get me fired, as after that incident the coworker in question (who I never spoke to before the incident and never did afterwards, no reason to, separate departments etc) would always look at me with a mix of disgust or uncomfortableness in passing. I'm thinking he fed her information I was some sort of creep beforehand, and wanted me to approach her to humiliate/embarrass me (or get me fired). I think this should tell you all you need to know about why I'm avoiding dating altogether. Holy trust issues, Batman.

Regardless of that situation, I've never known how to respond to this type of stuff. What exactly am I supposed to say, especially if I don't know the person doing this type of hazing? I've never had a good battle plan for this sort of social situation.
