Your skin can regenerate in ways your brain/mind won't

I've been stretching out "foreskin" for over a year now and it has accomplished absolutely nothing as far as glans coverage, but it has simply lengthened my flaccid penis and made some very basic gliding action possible. It's still 3x as better as before, but this is mostly because everything before was so bad. Basically, I have a correctly performed circumcision now, if I had ever truly needed it. Anything more than this, to gain coverage, will take many more years.

This hasn't done anything for any mental scars. I still have and probably will always have anxiety issues from uncontrollable wet dreams (I couldn't masturbate at all for the first year of puberty or so, before the skin loosened up) and premature ejaculation (going for the finish because that was once the only pleasurable part) or even being mocked in an American locker room for a "small penis", the biggest irony and in fact a textbook scenario circumcision is supposed to prevent. Being sexually retarded during those early years set me up for beta male involuntarily celibacy for a very long time, and sex eventually was just acceptable but not exceptional. It was mostly a vicarious head pleasure.

It's like any other muscle. It's like finally figuring out a diet that works for you and going from being a fat boy to a hunk at age 30. It's too late to have any improvement on your persona or much of the rest of your life. The persona is admittedly overrated in modern times and physical health is always appreciated, but it needs to be said that it doesn't fix any of the errors of foundational character growth years.

I'm going to say that anything anyone said about nerve endings is entirely wrong. I was cut so tight that the skin became paper thin, hair grew on the shaft, and half of the penis was buried. There is absolutely no way the amount of skin I have now could feel much of anything if it literally just had the exact same amount of nerves, just heavily diluted and spread around. Any given section of skin in fact feels more sensitive just because it's thicker. Simple sensations are not hard wired and set in stone the way personality is. The brain can adapt to sensation changes if you work with it long enough. But, I simply can't develop the "personality memory" that was possible when I had the hormones to back up any potential experience, but the hardware wasn't working correctly then.

This is just a heads-up that this sort of thing is a mixed bag overall, but if it is considered it absolutely needs to be done when one is young. The midlife crisis just doesn't cut it as far as the mental aspect is concerned, and in some ways even an improvement can make you look back with even greater sadness at what you missed.

I suspect that men given correctly performed "loose cuts" are probably mentally ok, and didn't experience a painful puberty too embarrassing to mention to a doctor or one's parents. The low and tight cut I got was blatantly malpractice that only caused problems later when nothing could be said. I don't know if anything is different now.

I haven't said anything to anyone about this except any curious internet weirdos considering restoring. I would say go for it, but accept that you would be very lucky and necessarily young to truly repair your mind, no matter how great everything else goes for you.
