New player - question

I just picked up Nioh and started playing. After reaching the first boss and (somewhat?) killing it (I got a cutscene by pressing Circle + Triangle) I got to the weapon-screen.

I have been searching around and I quite can't find any build which can recommend a good starting weapon + which stat build could help out a beginner like me.

Can any one of you recommend me a good build and also which stats I need to progress/how I need to progress them?
