Need a good book on modern technical / scientific UI design...

Sometimes we have to develop some engineering and scientific applications (desktop ones, not mobile).

There are hundreds of different parameters, and the settings widgets of our application quickly becomes a hard-boiled soup of different input fields, spinboxes, sliders, etc. It's a bit ugly and difficult to understand them.

Cannot you advice me a good book that explains how to make complicated logic more simple for user?
