17 Impreza LTD. First road trip & EZ-Pass Info

So, I took my Scooby Doo on it's first trip to Coastal NC. Here's some things I noticed.

  • MPG - Subaru states up to 38 MPG Highway. I didn't see it. I'll grant you; I was driving on Rte 95 at 75 MPH. That said; I was able to see about 35 MPG. Not too shabby considering speed and AWD. I used 89 Octane Fuel.
  • Eyesight and Radar Cruise control - WOW! Awesome is the short answer. That said; On my trip back last night; I ran into some Biblical rains and Eyesight just gave up because it couldn't see a damn thing. I had a hard time seeing 5 feet in front of my car so, I'll give it a pass. The cruise worked flawlessly until Eyesight shut off on the return trip. In case any of you are wondering. If eyesight shuts down; It lets you know and cruise will NOT function. *EZ-Pass - There have been so many questions as to where to locate the Tag. Some say upper right, some say upper left, some say lower corners... I placed mine just to the right of the rear view mirror mount in between the Eyesight system. I can confirm. No issues with that placement. All Tolls were picked up fine and no issues with Eyesight.
  • Android Auto - Sigh.... What a Pain in the ___. I've tried 3 different cables. I had 2 cheaper ones for my Nexus 6P. Bought an Anker that was suggested on the AA support site. I thought The Anker cable fixed issues. It did not. To date; I had done a Factory reset on my 6P and a factory reset on the Subaru Head unit. So.... yeah, I lost everything on both and had to set them both back up. I see that there is now yet another update to the head unit so I'll contact the dealer about it. I went to a Subaru dealer in NC and they basically said; yeah we know connection can be a pain at times.
  • Anyway.... Thought I'd share my experiences. I hope it helps
