[REQUEST][WWW] Overwatch for pc, any edition
Hi, I'm M4DOCK and I write you today to gently ask for the game Overwatch for pc. My first guess is many other people already asked for said game so I'll try and make my request unique the only way I know how: talking about myself.
ABOUT ME
I'm an italian 20 years old full-time university student. I study engineering management (or at least I think that's the correct english equivalent). Some time ago I decided against taking a part-time job because I'm certain my school performance would heavily resent from it (I quite struggled in my first year so I was also adviced by other people to focus on studies). Therefore I play free to play games or those that are given for free from time to time to celebrate events and such (free weekends, games that are given for free for a limited period of time, ...). I never really got pocket money from parents so I never bought games at release and such. One of my passions is drawing: anything that catches my eye, wether it's comics, movies, portraits... it's something I've been doing more or less for my entire life and, despite some random pauses here and there, I feel like I'm getting better and better every piece I create. I'm also trying to get more into photography (yeah, I tend to have an "artistic" side) and I quite enjoy learning about composition, techniques and similiars. For now I'm more in the "getting to know the hobby" phase but I'd like to invest more time in it in the future. I also used to love writing in the past: I used to write stories just for peronal enjoyment and sometimes combine drawing and writing to create really, really basic comics and have my brother read them. I stopped writing quite a few years ago for lack of time and because the university I go to doesn't focus on writing or such so I kinda stopped developing the habit (if it makes sense). I also love reading (a hobby that I'm starting to pick back up) and I'd say my favouire genre is fantasy (or at least it's the kind of book I read the most). My favourite author is probably Terry Pratchett: incredible mix of imagination and humor which makes for hilarious fantasy stories (I heavily suggest anyone interested to check his books out).
ABOUT THE GAME
Overwatch is a really popular team based first person shooter. The game's mot famous feature is probably it heroes' roster: 24 unique characters to chose from, each with her/his own respective role, strengths and weaknesses. The objective of the game is to cooperate with your team to the best of your capabilities to complete a certain objective (push a payload, take control of a certain area, …) while competing against the enemy team which is trying to do the same. The game plays out in a defined number of maps and game modes, but all the combinations of heroes possible and their incredible variety helps making every match fresh and different, creating an amazingly fun experience.
ABOUT MY "RELATIONSHIP" WITH OVERWATCH
I started following this game's development back when rumors started to spread that Blizzard was going to make an FPS MMORPG (or something similiar if I remeber correctly). When the actual game was announced I started following it avidly in social media and YouTube trailers. There were some rumors it may have been a free to play game so I waited anxiously for the final announcement, looking into every hero revealed and waiting. When they announced Overwatch would have been a buy to play game I was of course quite disappointed so I sadly stopped following its development and moved on. Until... a free weekend was announced around the end of May (probably related to the anniversary event and probably one of many others that I missed). Classes were over and exams were starting to get closer and closer so, in the middle of continuos study sessions, I decided to take a much needed break for one afternoon weekend and try it out. Let's just say this was a big mistake: I liked it, I liked it a lot so I tried playing it as much as I could in the short time available while balancing out studies and other responsibilites. Unfortunately, being the event just a free weekend, I soon had to stop playing, but I was left with an itching desire to play more. I therefore started entering in some giveaways hoping to maybe, just maybe win a copy of the game, but I wasn't lucky enough. It was around that period of time that I found out about this community. Let me just say (not trying to get anyone's favour here) I was blown away by the kindness of this community: giving away games, for free? So I decided to try and ask here to see if someone would be so kind and do me this stupidly big favour.
WHY OVERWATCH?
I can think of quite a few reasons why I'd love to play Overwatch so I'll put them in the most organized form I can think of:
-
I love fps games, they are my favourite gaming genre. I played many different free to play first person shooter titles: Team Fortress 2, Dirty Bomb, Blacklight Retribution, Planetside 2, Warface, Gotham City Impostors, Paladins, ... . I spent hundreds of hours on Team Fortress 2 specifically and I liked the idea of different classes with each its own unique pros and cons. I didn't like its limitations though, and after so much time I got bored of it and stopped playing
-
I'm competitive: I love developing my skills further and further such as aim, positioning, cooldowns management, team coordination, ... and fps games always give me the chance to do so with exciting action and tight gameplay mechanics. I, as probably every other c ompetitive gamer out there, like winning but...
-
... I like winning in the sense that I like succesfully cooperating with my team to achieve that. In Team Fortress 2 for example, medic was one of my favourite classes (and one of the classes I spent most time playing). There's something so rewarding for me in playing healer and sometimes basically winning the entire match without even firing once (which of course is not what a support player shoul look towards to but you get the idea :D)
-
As stated above, I enjoy playing support characters. Overwatch doesn't have one or two support heroes but four, which means one could almost never get bored of playing the role. Having so much flexibility in supporting your team seems so interesting, it's something I don't think I ever experienced before
-
I like being an active member of the community: participating in discussions on reddit, occasionaly making videos, following social medias and such, ... and Overwatch seems an incredible game to do so. With such a big and active community I would love to find a group of players (along some of my friends who already play the game) to play and have fun with. I also quite enjoy writing guides: I have written only 3 guides so far on Steam but they've gotten a combined amount of unique visitors of over 12000. I'm not trying to brag or somehow bring attention to my content, I just want to show that I like helping out other fellow players and Overwatch seems a perfect game to do so. Heroes, maps, strategies, comps, … there's so much to learn and so much to write about which is an activity I quite enjoy (as I hope it'll come off from this post)
-
Overwatch seems to be an never-ending stream of content: one year in and it's going stronger than ever. I'm almost sure such a game would keep me occupied for hundreds of hours
-
I've never really gotten into any competitive mode for lack of interest or the game mode not being properly supported: I'd like to correct that with Overwatch, maybe trying to find a group of people to play with and finally pushing myself to the limit in a truly compeitive scenario
CONCLUSIONS
This is my first time posting something here so, of course, if I've broken any rule or made any mistake in general, please point them out and I'll do what I can to fix it. I'm not really comfortable with asking people to gift me something without even knowing me, but I'd be really happy to be gifted the game so I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and try.
English is not my first language so if I've made any grammar mistake I apologize, I hope everything is readable and understandable.
With that said, I thank you for reading my request: that alone means a lot to me (at least it's not completely boring :D) and I wish you a happy day!
Thank you for reading this :D
