BuildAPC, can you help me optimize my airflow?
Hello everyone!
Recently I started using my gaming rig as an Ethereum (GPU mining, obviously). I installed Linux on a seperate partition for this so I could keep using Windows. I only do this at night so of course I want a fairly silent experience. This is not what I'm getting so far. Let's get down to the details.
My unoverclocked 4770k is watercooled. The radiator is at the top of the case with 2 120mm fans pulling air out of the case. Note: fans are at the bottom of the radiator. The load on the CPU isn't very high when mining.
My 780ti pulls air from the back and exhausts downwards into the case. The hottest temps I've seen on it are around 75-80°C when mining with a 80Mhz core clock overclock and 1000Mhz memory overclock.
Other fans: 2 120mm fans pulling in air from the front, 1 120mm fan pusing air out the back.
Some final thought: I think it's the case fans that are making all the noise. When I ramp up the GPU fans without a load it's fairly quiet. It's also fairly hot where I live right now so this is also a contributing factor. (20-22°C at night in the room my PC sits in)
TL;DR: 2 fans pulling in from front, 2 pushing out at the top through a radiator block, 1 pushing air out the back. Pls halp optimize.
