Create Game Day #1: Open World RTS
##Create Game Day is a challenge to design a game around a topic for next week and discuss it then with our conclusions and thoughts.
Think of it like the homework for a game designer.
All formats are allowed including, posts, articles, .pdfs, docs as long as they are easily accessible to the public.
Word documents and sites that require to make an account to view(facebook posts) are not allowed.
There is no time limit in posting and discussing other then it has to be posted in the relevant thread to the topic.
New people that come from future threads are encouraged to comment until the thread is archived but obviously old threads won't generate as much responses over time. This is the first thread so expect possible changes in the future.
Currently set every Saturday. It may change based on feedback.
###Today's topic: Open World RTS
^(On Saturday, June 17, 2017)
The RTS genre combined with the open world sensibilities of more free form play. With a focus on complex base building like in Factorio and a focus on panning, defense, automation and tackling challenges at your own pace. The only requirement is a really big continuous map with varied environments and no instanced independent maps. Every army can travel everywhere.
Next week's topic: Fantasy/Magic Management Game.
^(For Saturday, June 24, 2017)
Games like Raccetear. Adventure management games like Majesty series. Taverns, guilds and shops in a fantasy world. Alchemist like the Atelier series. Classic business games like Patrician,Anno or The Guild but with fantasy elements. Monsters, magic and dungeons are the spice that you might need.

What I am looking for topics is something like interesting problems and constraints in genres or finding a Steam game with an interesting premise that has a lot of potential but with disappointing results. We can fix that, we can think and brainstorm ideas on how it could work to release their potential all as a fun exercise that we don't invest away our lives in and can safely throw away. We polish our creativity, polish our instincts and come up with interesting concepts. This also for our own fun. Its not more and not less then just and should not be taken as functioning projects. We know that a lot of hard work goes into making a game.
