5.7 Hemi VVT failures
Hey folks, I have myself a 2013 Charger with the 5.7 hemi and it started to run like crap. This is 3 days after an oil change using Mobil 1 5w20 synth shmoo. I don't think that is super important, but you never know. I got the dreaded p0016 & p000b codes and a very rough idle. I babied it home and it has sat since. As soon as the part arrives via mail, I will be replacing the VVT solenoid aka oil control valve. My question is can this still be driven if I am nice to it? This sort of system has always spooked my after owning a few triton motors. I'd like to still be able to drive it to work, but it isn't the end of the world if I can't. I fear the timing chain jumping or something exploding - the car has an amazing 102000 miles on it, so I would hope the timing chain tensioners aren't worn yet. I am no mechanic, I just know more than the average bear.
