Getting high or drunk > living life ?

I hope I used the right symbol, but am I the only one who feels a " good " life is over rated ? The life where you have the job, money, things etc. I feel like getting high / drunk trumps all of that, yet it's not like that is a productive life ( unless you're able to financially afford it.

I feel like this " life " truly is an uphill battle that is becoming more bleak as days go forward, so atleast the drugs and or alcohol numbs that realization, making life at least bearable.

Is it possible that one doesn't have to suffer from mental illness and or addiction to realize, that maybe for some, life just is not all that enjoyable and the drugs and drinking is a way to exist in a place you never asked to be apart of ?
