Where to surf in surfers paradise?

I'm in Surfers Paradise for one week and would like to go surfing. I'm a total beginner, I had my first two lessons a week ago in Yamba and managed to stand up on the board quite a few times. Me and a friend would like to go to some easy beach and try surfing on our own, so without another surf course / lesson or expensive instructor.
Do you have any tips on where to go? Or which shops to ask for daily surf information / renting a board & wetsuit? Thanks in advance!
