Fire Emblem as a Beginner (+Recommendations?)

Hey you guys! So for the first time in my life, I finally own a Nintendo console other than the AtariI once had! Yay haha! I got a New Nintendo 3DS XL and I'm really excited about it. I ordered Monster Hunter 4 and Super Mario 3D with it, but my charger is not here yet so that's that!

Anyways, as the title says, I hear the Fire Emblem series is very nice, and my favorite type of games are ones with a great, powerful story. So does this meet my needs? If so, how do do I get into it since there appear to be several titles but I don't know if they're actually sequels.

Also, any recommendations for great story driven games? I love mysteries and some of my favorite games of all time would be: Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and the Zero Escape Series (want to get ZTD!).

So yeah, thanks!
