why doesnt americans have "real" bread?

many german friends of mine who visited america several times told me about their experience that american love german bread, beer and sausages. they often claim that they dont have "real" bread like we here in germany, just toast or something like that.

now to my question: why after so many decades of hardcore globilisation arent the things americans love in america? bread, sausages and even beer arent that hard to copy. even other nation did this why not americans? i heard you dont like new stuff. is there something real on this claim?
