They wonder why employees stop caring in retail, well here is a good reason...
So basically I was told by my direct boss that the store mgr wanted to make me a team leader, but there is only one problem - the store does not have the volume for that position and it essentially does not exist until our store gets the required volume. So I was told this by another manager and that "not to get my hopes up." I have had stellar reviews and even told that I was the most positive person in the store. So my attitude changed when I asked directly what I had to do to get promoted. The response? "Well the position we told you about probably wont open until three years from now and that is if the store hits the required volume. Also dont try to apply for any promotions as I wont have your back." So basically the only way I would ever get a better job is by looking outside the company. Talk about a blow to ones self esteem - thinking that I was actually making a difference, and then come to find out I am just another employee. I knew that the store needed the volume or such bs for me to be looked at for a promotion, but then to be told it might be three years is even more bullshit.
