How to progress from hardware repair?

Seeking Advice

I'm a hardware technician for a fruit-based company with a lot of stores. Before that I worked in a customer service/sales role for an independent computer repair company. I am about to start a part-time degree in Computing where I will focus my modules on project management and networking and I will leave with a CCNA as a nice bonus.

I have my A+ cert and am about to go and do my Net+ one as practise for the CCNA.

Where I'd really like to go is into either Networking or Computer security, and if possible I'd like to stay with the same company as they're really awesome to work for. I'll also have chances to do placements in these departments.

In order to maximise my experience, I was thinking about continuing studying for certifications such as Security+ and the Cisco line of certs. When I've completed my current degree I also would have the opportunity to specialise with a masters. Is there any other way that people can think of that I could build up marketable experience in either Security or Networking without leaving my current job?
