General play question: I'm doing no damage?

Guys, I have played a few matches now, and I'm getting murdered. It doesn't matter what ship I use, I just feel weak in general. I do almost no damage, and if some has me in their cross hairs, I'm as good as dead.

What am I doing wrong? Is there some Youtube videos I can watch to help me improve? I'm on PS4 if that helps...
