How does one get over the anxiety that they are doing something foolish, financially at least?
In the spirit of the user that referred to their tormentors by names such as LadyBaby, Creeper etc, I am going to call my n mom The Prophet. The Prophet has always fancied herself an oracle, that God gives her messages directly and curses her enemies on her behalf. After 2008, she has taken it upon herself to predict the next financial collapse. She has predicted one nearly every year, and from 2012 onwards, her predictions became even more dire. Not only would she predict financial collapse, but she started to predict the collapse of civilization. Peak oil, electromagnetic storms that knock out the power grid, and mass starvation. She got into prepping, although because she is a hoarder, there wasn't much room to put extra stores of food. There is still no room to put extra stores of food, in my house.
For years, she has been pressuring to sell my house and live in a shotgun shack. She paid $50,000 towards down payment and home improvements and wants that money back desperately. Nevermind some of that money is accounted for as a gift and legally she can't get that back. Today, she sends this lovely gem: http://imgur.com/laWfzNQ
Seriously, I'm so over her apocalyptic rhetoric. But deep inside me is anxiety that I am making a bad decision by not selling my house. And that I will get burned when there is a collapse like there was in 2008. How does one learn to trust themselves, and be okay with whatever decision they make?
