Question for out of the Trenches: The Balfour declaration

Hi Indy and crew!

I have a question about the Balfour agreement. Is it true that is was a deal made to get the US into WW1 in return for Israeli independence? I understood the deal was made in 1916 when the French faced mutiny and the German sub campaign almost choked the UK into submission. In other words the entante could only be saved with the USA comming to aid on the side of the French and Brits. How much of this is true? I really love your show and I hope you guys will make this series about WWII aswel
