Help introducing puppy to my dog.

I recently got a 2 month old Tibetan Terrier and am looking for information on how to introduce him to my 2 year old Shar Pei. The pup is very friendly which seems to put off my Shar Pei as the pup has not been very submissive. Im also wondering if i should comfort my dog when he barks at or gets too excited with the pup as he may take this as encouragement and only enforce this behaviour. Any advice is welcome, thanks.
