Creating Atmosphere

Echos - Don't Let Me Go (Illenium Remix)

Hey, I was just wondering about the awesome atmosphere at the beginning (from about 0:00-0:43). I was wondering what kind of layers Illenium uses for that kind of atmosphere and how to make things like it. I'm really in love with songs that have atmosphere like this one! Thanks :)
