I really like Melee characters, I really like tanky characters. Any that are useful for the team and easiest to learn the game with?

I'm starting to get back into the swing of this game after taking months off from my first 70 hours or so playing this but I still have no real idea who to choose that can help me learn the game while being useful for the team, I've had more success playing melee heroes than ranged and I really like not dying. I used to play a lot of Treant Protector and Tidehunter but I feel useless in lane playing them and the recent Treant nerfs put me off from playing it.

Are there any good melee heroes that are durable but also really useful for the team and 1v1's? Preferably ones that don't require too much mechanical skill to learn the game with?

I'm starting to re-learn that with Dota I need to get used to losing again, I'm very comfortable with League of Legends so it's jarring to play a game where I'm losing and not learning too much for why I'm losing.
