Overcoming my phase of depression.

For the past few months, I had slowly began to lose my faith in humanity. I was beginning to let the world's selfishness and negativity get to me, losing hope in humanity sent me into depression. I've always constantly been stepped on the people around me in order for them to advance and frankly, I was tired of my kindness being mistaken for weakness. I began to guard myself by assuming that everyone was out to get me, by viewing everyone as a potential threat. I now realize that this is exactly what I tell people not to do when they come to me for guidance. There's one lesson I continuously preach to good people going through tough times, "Don't let the world make you cold". It pains me to see people with kind hearts being used as stepping stones by people they truly believed in. Before now, I was preaching an ideal that I no longer practiced. Constantly being disappointed by people that I had faith in, people that the world completely turned their back on, took its toll on me. I was becoming a negative person with a noticeably smaller capacity for compassion and empathy. Oddly enough, it took something that normally would have shattered my entire emotional being, to get myself back on track. I could be completely wrong, I could be in denial, it really doesn't matter at this point. The only thing that matters is that something that the vast majority of people can only see as negative, somehow reverted my mind to its normal state. I believe that I'm a pretty good judge of character, and as negative as the message was, I feel that there was good intent behind it. Either way, intended or not, that's what it took to make me no longer see everything negatively from the jump. It is funny how the world works though, I became less trusting when I became employed in a line of work that requires you to have that mentality. Everything happens when it does for a reason. These different methods of thinking are crucial for my well-being and I no longer feel like I'm something that I'm not. I'm really glad that something was able to show me that it's possible to seperate work from life. The other lesson it taught me is that in a night sky filled with clouds, the stars are still shining. You probably won't be able to see them physically. In the chance that you were lucky enough to experience the beauty of a fully lit sky, you'll remember that just beyond the darkness, the stars are still shining; they never stopped, you just stopped believing.

adios amigo.
