  • AsPdKiNg: Thing is in America we actually use both. Imperial for most tasks and used often in construction. But we use metric in the scientific field
  • Natural_Justice: You don't find that concept weird? It's like "For the important things like science we'll use this simple, robust system that's easy to use and never confusing, but everyone else in the country can go get fucked the rest of the time".
  • AsPdKiNg: Its actually pretty efficient. Imperial is already well taught and is easily understandable to everyone, we are taught metric throughout school, but we don't like change here. There is also the costs behind switching, imagine redoing every sign in the country to change it to metric. Its a large expensive task that doesn't really accomplish anything except looking more rounded and being like other countries.
  • Natural_Justice: In what way is the imperial system more efficient than metric? "Because we already do things a worse way" isn't efficiency, it's stubbornness.
  • AsPdKiNg: In what way would doing it outside of the scientific field would have any negative effect?
  • Natural_Justice: Why have your best and brightest use one method because it's better and the rest use another method? You've already conceded that using it in science wouldn't make sense because it would cause a negative effect, so why tolerate it anywhere else?
  • crustychicken: > because it's better

Not really. Not better. Not worse.

  • JOKEOFTHEWEEK: No, objectively better lol Americans are just so stubborn they can't admit that literally the rest of the planet does it the right way.
  • literallyOfficer: literally the rest of the planet does it the right way?
