Adventurers (us) vs the lore
For the most part, the player role in the story development has been pretty insignificant. Raid kills have been attributed to a bunch of adventurers, not implying it was the same people in every battle.
The heroic trend started in WoD, where we lead garrisons but you can still write the garrisons were lead by the greatest heroes of alliance/horde and same for Class Halls. Although you can write that, it becomes kinda strange that those great leaders remain nameless.
My biggest issue, and I expect this has been discussed over many times, is the artifact weapons and us. Especially the big names like Ashbringer and Doomhammer. Even the shards of Frostmourne being reforged and wielded by the greatest DK out there, whose name we won't tell you, is odd.
My point is, the way our characters are becoming more and more important in the lore, unless we somehow die at the end of Legion, what do you think is the best way to go about our existence? Pretend it wasn't us but instead the followers who wielded the weapons and led the armies? (such as Mograine for DKs) Will new named heroes pop-up in the lore, representing us? Or, the most likely, will the lore skip those events, mentioning Legions defeat, fall of some of our champions but no word about the artifact weapons etc?
