'''computertyper@learndota2: Any actual guide to supporting 1k mmr with 2v2 lanes? Hi Guys/Gals:

I am about 1.6k MMR. I enjoy playing safe lane support(Warlock, Lion, Dazzle, CM), but there seem to be very few guides on how to deal with a 2v2 lane when I'm supporting a late game carry(Spectre, Anti-Mage, etc). Most of the guides I see for "newbies" are for 3-4k MMR where there is a solo offlaner.

What often happens:

  1. I buy courier/tangos/ward/clarity/salve/etc.
  2. First creep wave everyone spams spells and the lane is shoved in near our tower.
  3. Now carry can't last hit without serious harass and he's forced to last hit under tower.
  4. If I go and try to harass from the side, the other two go on me with stuns/slows/attacks and my carry can't do much.
  5. If I stand near the tower, I aggro creeps and make it even harder to last hit besides just getting nothing done.
  6. I can't pull to get xp because the lane is already shoved in.
  7. I have to up courier asap because my carry can't even get to the side shop.
  8. I'm useless the rest of the game and my carry is 0-2 with like 20cs @ 10 min.

Im really lost on what I can do besides trying to repeatedly gank mid or just babysitting my carry with heals and saving stun. https://redd.it/6hotww

  • the_mighty_iroh: You can pick lane bullies like Sky, Jakiro, Warlock, Witch Doctor, Silencer. They all have long attack range, so it's easy to harrass from far away.

Jakiro can't attack from far away but he has mana-free spell. Dual Breath is also also pretty strong.

Sky probably can harrass and zone anyone in lane if you buy a few clarities and spam Arcane Bolt.

Warlock has heal for your ally and you can't believe how much damage people take from Fatal Bonds.

Witch Doctor has long attack range, good animation. If they made mistake Cask into Maledict should be either kill or fountain journey.

I don't like support Silencer, but I guess he can work in 2vs2 scenarios especially if people exploit his weakness. Slow and no escape mechanism. Don't pick against Spirit Breaker.

You can also try Oracle but he is weak atm and a bit hard to learn.

Ogre probably can work as he's fat boy. Eat tango, Ignite weakest target and right click him till he dies.

  • computertyper: TY. l33t_p3n1s also mentioned Jakiro. I'll try him out. Using his 3rd spell every once in awhile sounds like good damage harass.

Skywrath is awesome, but I've had really bad times with him vs common enemies(PA, Riki).

  • icarus-_-sky: Go ogre and literally just run at people. He's so good in that davai MMR bracket where everyone wants to brawl from minute 1; there's no outbrawling an ogre from minute 1. I really like getting courier, a ward depending on the other support, and as many mangos as you can afford. The regen it gives you literally turns you into a walking tango. And if you need to TP to save some idiot, you'll always have mana for your spells in the early game.

Keep buying mangos until you get your arcanes. That's literally all an ogre needs. Anything else is luxury.

  • computertyper: Very true. I think the solution is that in 2v2 lanes, I cannot pick a passive healer type support to pair up with a weak early lane carry. I need to select annoying and unconventional supports who can trade hits and spam spells even if it costs my carry some last hits.
  • Sebastianthorson: Remember that Warlock can use W on himself and then just trade hits with literally anyone. Or just spam W on enemies to make them cry.
  • literallyOfficer: literally yone?
