How to take down a tank?

Unfortunately, I have to take down my 55 gallon African cichlid tank sometime this summer. Fortunately, it is because of college. I am kinda lost when it comes to going about doing it though. The tank has just rocks and sand with about 14 fish. Would it be better to try and sell them all on Craigslist? Or bring them into my lfs and take what they offer? I'd like to get some money, but also I don't have much time. Thank you for all of your suggestions!
