Why don't we have highway markers in Alberta?

Along our major routes? I mean, wouldn't it ne nice to be able to call the RCMP or radio stations and say something like "I saw moose/broken down car/accident on southbound X around km marker 163"

I know I've been driving before and had to report drunk drivers with guesses to my location. This might help.
