Throwing food on the floor

Not a meal time goes by without a good portion of food ending up on the floor. Our daughter is 19 months old. We always try and eat together for as many meals as possible and we let her get on with feeding herself. We try not to pester her while shes eating. However after she has eaten a bit she invariably starts dropping and throwing food on the floor. Our approach is to tell her "no food doesn't go on the floor" in a firm but friendly voice, no shouting or anything like that. But it persists, its almost like she is testing us out.Has anybody else had the same problem? Any good tips or advice for how to change this behavior and generally get her more interested in food?
