Should i undervolt? Are these temps fatal?
So i've recently bought the Asus ROG gl702vm and it performs really well but is known for having heat issues .I also live in israel, which means the ambient temp. Is very high, and pretty much every shop scams you and doesn't help if anything happens.
I bought a cooling fan, a good one at that (Notepal X3)
I was still reaching 79-92 degrees celsius on the CPU while playing games (The Witcher 3 on High) and so, while the GPU reaches ranges 10 degrees lower
Turned off turbo (99% usage in power settings down from 100) and cpu temperatures dropped by 4-8 degrees, but i have noticed an fps change, maybe it is only my imagination, since I haven't checked the numbers yet, will do so today
Edit: fps unchanged
I am currently considering undervolting, and increasing fan speeds since i don't care about sounds
Also, how much do drivers impact temperatures?
If anyone could list out the pros and cons/results of undervolting and changing fan speed and instructions,if you will. Help would be very appreciated, as i'm in a bad situation
My specs are:
Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ 1TB 7200RPM + 256GB SSD 16GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 Strix Motherboard
