What's with the 'let's look down on bottoms' bullshit?

It might just be perceived, but I find that merely suggesting I enjoy catching rather than pitching, makes Gay men look at me funny. Hell, one guy (a top) actually said "hey I'm no woman!" when I suggested jokingly that he should try taking it...

Since without bottoms, tops would be quite bored, I find this an especially strange.
